Moneycorp, a global payments and foreign exchange (FX) provider, announced in a press release Thursday (Sept. 1) that it is continuing its European expansion with the opening of a new office in Paris.
The new office will serve as the headquarters for Moneycorp France, which will be led by Cyril Léger, a treasury and FX specialist with experience working in both a FinTech and a banking environment.
Initially launching with a team of six, Moneycorp France has ambitions to quadruple its headcount in the coming year, per the release.
“Moneycorp is strongly positioned for sustainable growth, and we’re very pleased to be expanding our physical presence in Europe with the opening of our French branch,” said Bryan McSharry, CEO of Moneycorp Technologies Limited. “Our platform offers French companies robust and secure payment solutions, alongside a dedication to personal service that Moneycorp has prided itself on for over 40 years.”
Founded in London in 1979 as a traditional FX business, in the years since, Moneycorp has increasingly focused on innovating in the space and developing financial technology for the FX and cross-border payments market.
Koen Vanpraet, CEO EMEA Moneycorp, added: “We are pleased that following our recent successful financial results, we are officially opening our doors in France. France is our sixth office in Europe, the Middle East and Africa region, which also includes the UK, Ireland, Spain, Romania and Dubai.
“This is a key milestone that exemplifies our ambitious growth plans in Europe and in the fintech payments space, and we look forward to furthering our success with the launch of Moneycorp France.”
Since being acquired by Bridgepoint in 2014, Moneycorp has expanded its footprint internationally, obtaining Money Service Business licenses across Spain, Romania and the United States.
Moneycorp has also obtained banking licenses in Brazil and Gibraltar, creating Moneycorp Banco de Cambio and Moneycorp Bank, respectively. Most recently, the company obtained a Money Service Business license in Canada and opened its Toronto office in 2020.
